If I understand the hints in Mark's instructions, it sounds like it is possible to specify device links in each user's .sparrow file which might satisfy Jason's concerns. Most of us engineers don't know about the sparrow file though, so examples in the instructions are needed.

I find it clumsy to constantly switch back and forth between the Selection and Graph tabs. Is it possible to "tear off" a tab like in Cleo? If not, I'd suggest the program should come up in two separate windows. In either case, the Selection tab could be made more compact.

I agree with the comments by the others above. The programmer might spend some time with the glish version and see how data is selected for plotting.

In general, the speed of this version seems significantly slower than the glish version. I do like the progress bar at the bottom.

Would like to print to postscript or pdf files, as well as export to ascii files.

Expanded use instructions would be good.

I use the "specify device" option alot since some of the devices I'm interested in (structural/air temp sensors, Quadrant Detector, Accelerometers, Inclinometers) are not in the standard list. To make this less painful, I created links in my unix directory that points to the correct place. For instance, I have a link called StructTemp? that points to this long directory path: /home/gbtlogs/AntennaCharacterization-StructureTemperature-StructureTemp

This saved quite a bit of typing since tab completion didn't work in logview. I guess I'm saying that I would like for it to still accept links for "specify device". If this is painful for some reason, another option is to add all the devices to the device list so I wouldn't need to use the links.

It would be handy at times to be able to rename the data series, move the legend around, rename the X & Y axis titles, change the line colors, add markers, etc like Excel.

I'll second the request above to export the data to a tab delimited text file.

I like the zoom/unzoom feature, keep that!

I also like how the little box at the bottom displays the X and Y coordinates as you move the mouse around.

The selection of data for the last hour, day, week, and month is handy. Keep it.

In the "Column name", change DMJD to "time". What does DMJD stand for anyway?

In the "Sampler alias" window, list all items in alphabetical order.

"Expression" is confusing. It seems to be a multiplier factor for the Y axis, but the data shown in the graph doesn't scale accordingly. We're not sure how this is intended to be used, but it only leads to confusion, at least when viewing cryo temps.

Display units. For instance, display K when monitoring cryo temps, and degrees C when displaying air temperatures.

Autoscaling data when in the graph mode is sometimes too fine. It would be useful to allow manual scaling in the form of Y axis low and high values.

In the "Sampler alias" window, it would be good to select multiple devices. For instance, one should be able to select three different receivers, pick time for the X axis, 15K temperature for Y1, 50K temp for Y2, and plot. The result would be six different datasets of temperature information on one graph.

Add grid lines to correspond to major X and Y values as plotted on the graph. Allow the grid lines to be turned on or off.

Allow exporting of data in tabular .txt format.

Printing/plotting of graphs is broke. The current "work around" for this is to capture the graph image, open it into some sort of paint program, change colors as needed, then print. This clumsy at best. Printing should be as easy as hitting print, selecting a printer, and hitting OK.
