The goal of ASTRID (formerly Turtle/Observing API ) is to build on the lessons learned from GO to produce the next generation observing utility. ASTRID is used to build observing scripts which are the key component of a scheduling block. ASTRID is then used to edit, monitor, and run those scheduling blocks. ASTRID includes a tab for displaying data similar to GFM (GBT FITS Monitor).

A goal of ASTRID is to help focus the observer's attention on the science being done on the GBT rather than the actual procedural elements required to collect their data.

Turtle may be run from any workstation (unix, linux, Windows PC). The Windows PC will require Exceed running.

Turtle requires unique gateway permissions to run. If using turtle, include monctrl@wind in the gateway for all devices and the antenna.
