The Lockout/Tagout is designed to disable the 140 Foot Focus and Polarization motors. Lockout/Tagout will be used to prevent motion while certain types of maintenance are performed or as directed.

NOTE 1 All personnel will contact the duty operator to confirm access is permitted and describe work to be performed.
1 At the Operator's Console, ensure the Stow Brakes are set.
2 Ensure the antenna control lockout is in the OFF position. When removed, the control key is stored in the Lockout/Tagout box.
3 *Steps to lockout these servos is still pending!*
4 Personnel can now place their lock/tag on the Lockout/Tagout box and access the antenna for maintenance actions.
NOTE 2 Locks/tags can be found at the Lockout/Tagout station.

NOTE 1 The duty operator will be contact when access is required. Personnel will describe work to be performed.
1 At the Operator's Console, ensure the Stow Brakes are set after the antenna is positioned as requested and prior to personnel gaining access.
NOTE 2 Once personnel lockout the antenna, ensure the 43Meter Main Console window displays the key lock icons (indicates antenna has been locked out).
2 The personnel working on the 43Meter will then take the steps necessary to lockout or disable focus or polarization servos as necessary.

TELESCOPE OPERATIONS


LOCKOUT/TAGOUT FOR FOCUS AND POLARIZATION MOVEMENT

General

The Lockout/Tagout is designed to disable the 140 Foot Focus and Polarization motors. Lockout/Tagout will be used to prevent motion while certain types of maintenance are performed or as directed.

Warning

Ensure personal safety through effective lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure servo systems are disabled from movement before releasing them for access.

  • Stow position for access to the tipping structure is: 0.0 Degs Hour angle / 38.438 Degs Declination
  • Service position for work via the service tower is: -106.204 Degs Hour angle / -14.553 Degs Declination

STEP ACTION
