NOTE Skip steps 1-4 if the antenna is already at the Stow position with drives disabled.
1 Take control via the Antenna Control Software with the TAKE command. Skip if you already have control.
2 Switch to Position mode with the system mode command. Skip if already in position mode.
3 Enable drives/release brakes if not already done.
4 Type stow then press enter. The antenna will move to stow position (00 Hour angle/38.54 Degs Dec) then disable drives automatically upon arrival.
5 Set the Pol/Dec Gear Reducer brakes.
6 Press the Control Off button.
7 Press the OFF button for both axes.
8 Press the Anti-Backlash Off button for both axes.
9 Press the Bleed button for both axes.
10 Set the Dec Stow brake (sets both Dec and Polar axis brakes).
11 Remove the antenna control lockout key and return it to the Lockout/Tagout box.

SHUTDOWN

General

This procedure covers the basic steps for shutting down the 140 Foot telescope drives in preparation for stowing at survival position, maintenance, or as directed.

Warning

Ensure personal safety through effective lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the antenna is cleared for movement before releasing hydraulic drive brakes.

  • For the purpose of this procedure, the terms Stow and Survival are synonomous.

  • Stow/Survival position for the 140 Foot antenna is: 00 Hour angle/38.54 Degs Declination

Stowing Antenna for Shutdown

STEP ACTION
