Board Meeting Minutes for April, 2008

Old Business

March Minutes were approved.

Treasurers Report

  • Reminded Paul that we still owe payment for the Pizza party.
  • There was $400 activity
  • Paul is acting on the motions approved in February concerning reinvesting the 10000 in an 11 month Cs and
placing the remander (approximately $6000) in the checking account

Xbox party was a big hit with all who attended.

New Business

  • All members were reminded that cleanup must be done after each recreation activity.
  • Wellness Letter - Motion was approved to send letter to NRAO.
  • Exercise committee
    • Mike Garrigan took over the repair and maintenance of the equipment. He has documentation and would like a locker for maintenace logs and tools. It was mentioned that Sue Ann Heatherly might have some lockers we could have, or we could ask Christine about getting some throught the old fovernment furniture/equipment warehousing mechanism.
    • Masters Swim club
      • $68 to register team. Motion was approved to provide $68 out of misc funds for this
      • Questions arose as to who covered the cost of umbrellas (and similar items ) for the pool. Jules is going to talk to Mike Holstine and report back to us.
      • The possibility of buying a shade cover for the kiddies pool was discussed.
      • The possibility of subsidising individual team memberships was discussed.
      • Buying lane ropes was discussed. The cost are are somewhere between 50 and 150 per lane depending on what type of rope is purchased. Larry Morgan is going to talk to Mike Holstine about requesting funding from the "wellness" fund equal to the amount given to Charlottesville. This money can go towards the purchase of locker, ropes and other items.

  • Picnic planning has started
    • Members of variouys committess volunteered.
      • Sue is taking care of catering. We briefly discussed the possibility of asking Allen for some ideas on who else might cater the picnic.
      • Glen is chairing the games committee, Paul is a member of this committee
      • Jay is chairing the entertainment committee.
      • Melinda will sell tickets.
      • Glenn will talk to Kenny and Bob to see if they still want to do the uncatered picnic food.
      • Glenn will organise the port-a-potties
      • Chris Clark will handle the fireworks (NOTE: will someone talk to him?)
      • Carla is chairing the tent committee.
    • We are looking for ideas on new things to do at the picnic. One idea was doing a Pinnata game.
  • Golf tounament is scheduled for week prior to memorial day at the Raven.
  • May 23 is a dinner and a movie.
  • Bylaw changes were read to committee and will be sent to general membership for voting.
