How to setup/teardown CCU/SCU for Modbus Control
Enabling CCU Modbus Control
- login to the ACU host (currently 'donna')
- login to the CCU single board via the terminal server (or directly)
-
telnet gbtrba 10
- (optional)
rlogin ccu
- Copy the Modbus enabled image to the sccu.ro executable:
-
cd "/sd0/" <====(Note trailing slash)
-
copy "X080519.RO", "SCCU.RO"
- (Press Cntrl-] to get logout from telnet, or type
logout if rlogin was used N.B.: Do Not type exit )
Changing The Az/El Hardware from Wire-Wrap to PLC
- Change hardware connections over to PLC
- 1. Turn off (Large) breakers on the 4 Power Drive Units (PDU)
- 2. Turn off breaker for the 3 phase 220 volt brakes.
- 3. Turn off the logic power in the Interface Cabinet.
- 4. Remove all ribbon cables from the original wire wrap boards at the intermediate connectors.
- 5. Install the ribbon cables from the PLC to the intermediate connectors.
- 6. There is a connector on the PLC system labeled "By-Pass Connector". This connector must be DISCONNECTED when running under PLC control. It is essential for the safety of the telescope.
- 7. Verify all ribbon cables are connected correctly.
- 8. Turn on the Interface Cabinet.
- Reboot CCU and CCU-Aux CPU's by pressing Red button
- After the CCU reboots turn on the 4 PDU breakers and the brake breaker.
- Clear all faults on the OCU.
Returning CCU to non-Modbus Control
- login to the host 'donna'
- login to the CCU single board via the terminal server (or directly)
-
telnet gbtrba 10
- (optional)
rlogin ccu
- Copy the 'currently released' image to the sccu.ro executable:
-
cd "/sd0/" <====(Note trailing slash)
-
copy "CURRENT.RO", "SCCU.RO"
- (Press Cntrl-] to get logout from telnet, or type
logout if rlogin was used)
Changing The Az/El Hardware from PLC to Wire-Wrap
- Change hardware connections over to non-PLC configuration
- 1. Turn off (Large) breakers on the 4 Power Drive Units (PDU)
- 2. Turn off breaker for the 3 phase 220 volt brakes.
- 3. Turn off the logic power in the Interface Cabinet.
- 4. Remove all ribbon cables from the PLC at the intermediate connectors.
- 5. Install the ribbon cables from the original wire-wrap boards to the intermediate connectors.
- 6. Verify all ribbon cables are connected correctly.
- 7. There is a connector on the PLC system labeled "By-Pass Connector". This connector must be CONNECTED when running under wire-wrap control. The telescope will not function without it.
- 7. Turn on the Interface Cabinet.
- Reboot CCU and CCU-Aux CPU's by pressing Red button
- After the CCU reboots turn on the 4 PDU breakers and the brake breaker.
- Clear all faults on the OCU.
Enabling SCU Modbus Control
- login to the ACU host (currently 'donna')
- change directory to the SCU boot area:
-
cd /export/home/donna/services/sccu/gbt/exec/mv167-vxworks (note this area is mirrored on kintac)
- record where the link 'sccu.ro' points (for later reference)
-
ls -l sccu.ro
- lrwxrwxrwx 1 monctrl monctrl 16 Jun 23 11:43 sccu.ro -> sccu.vx51.100307
- remove the link, and add a new one
-
rm sccu.ro
-
ln -s X080807.scu.ro sccu.ro
- log into the scu and change the boot parameters
--> bootChange()
'.' = clear field; '-' = go to previous field; ^D = quit

Changing The SDU Hardware from Wire-Wrap to PLC
- Change hardware connections over to PLC
- 1. Turn the 110 Volt logic power off in the left cabinet.
- 2. Disconnect all 6 ribbon cables from the SDU Interlock board at the intermediate connectors.
- 3. Connect the 6 ribbon cables from the PLC to the intermediate connectors.
- 4. Reboot SCU and SCU-Aux CPU's by pressing Red button
- 5. Turn the 110 Volt logic power on AFTER the SCU completes rebooting.
- Clear the SDU faults on the OCU.
Restoring SCU non-Modbus Control
- login to the ACU host (currently 'donna'
- change directory to the SCU boot area:
-
cd /export/home/donna/services/sccu/gbt/exec/mv167-vxworks
- remove the link, and add a new one
-
rm sccu.ro
-
ln -s sccu.vx51.100307 sccu.ro
- log into the scu

Changing The SDU Hardware from PLC to Wire-Wrap
- Change hardware connections to non-Modbus configuration
- 1. Turn the 110 Volt logic power off in the left cabinet.
- 2. Disconnect all 6 ribbon cables from the PLC at the intermediate connectors.
- 3. Connect the 6 ribbon cables from the Interlock board to the intermediate connectors.
- 4. Reboot SCU and SCU-Aux CPU's by pressing Red button
- 5. Turn the 110 Volt logic power on AFTER the SCU completes rebooting.
- Clear the SDU faults on the OCU.
- Reboot SCU and SCU-Aux CPU's by pressing Red button
Changing OCU Status Def Faults and Statuses file.
- At the OCU keyboard type Cntrl-Alt-5 to get to a QNX screen.
- cd to the working directory.
- Copy the working of StatusDef.doc to a holding area.
-
cp StatusDef.doc StatusDef.nnn
- Copy the plc version of StatusDef to the working file.
-
cp StatusDef.plc StatusDef.doc
- Go to the back of the OCU rack and on your left hand side slip your little finger between the rack and the OCU. There is a power switch you need to turn off then turn back on, unless you know a better way to reset QNX.
- After the OCU is rebooted it will have the proper StatusDef for faults and statuses.
- I believe you can figure from this sequence how to restore StatusDef.doc to the original version if need be.
