How do I start the GBT Antenna Manager simulator?
Make sure you sign up for using the simulator first!!!
Sign up at the Simulator Calendar.
- start a cleo antenna screen
- Ask the operator to provide you permissions on the antenna (only if YGOR_TELESCOPE is /home/gbt); On the simulator simply add an entry for your login and host in the file /home/sim/etc/config/securedb.txt
- Press the button labelled "Control." A second screen should appear.
- On the lower righthand region, set the "Oper. Mode" to "GetControl", and on Antenna Monitor screen, select from top menubar: Managers->Antenna->Prepare
- Wait until the status returns to ready. Verify the CCU and SCU control fields on the monitor screen read "NRAO."
- On the lower righthand region of Antenna Control screen, set the "Oper. Mode" to "DoScan"
- On the 'Pointing' tab, select pointing coefficients to match the optics setup. (e.g. Default_DC for Gregorian; Default_PrimeFocus for prime focus)
- On the 'Drives' tab, select Az,El on the Control: line and the axes which match the mode (e.g. in Gregorian mode enable Y1,Y2,Y3,X1,X2,Z1)
- Press Update
- On Antenna Monitor screen, select from top menubar: Managers->Antenna->Prepare
- Drives should enable, and the antenna should be ready for use.
I'm running the real telescope, but want to use the simulated antenna:
$ ssh (any linux machine)
$ su - monctrl
# setup gbt environment
$ gbtenv
$ cd /home/gbt/bin
$ ./setAntennaMode simulator
To restore the antenna back to using the real antenna in the gbt environment:
$ ssh (any linux machine)
$ su - monctrl
# setup gbt environment
$ gbtenv
$ cd /home/gbt/bin
$ ./setAntennaMode real
