• After the 2/25 - 2/29 round of bug fixes , I wanted to build the latest source and verify the unit tests still worked before starting the low level messaging MR.

• I used "cvs update -C" to get the latest code. I didn't need to preserve any changes, so this command just gave me all of the code out of CVS.

• I set environment variables:
  1. export YGOR_ROOT=/home/sandboxes/mwhitehe/ygor
  2. export GB_ROOT=/home/sandboxes/mwhitehe/gb
  3. source $YGOR_ROOT/ygor.bash

• Later, in order to get some of the unit tests to work, I sent an additional variable:
  1. export YGOR_TELESCOPE=/home/sim

• I eventually discovered that the Rcvr_PAR.conf file had to be in the directory from which the test script was executed. So I ended up running rcvr_par_unit_test from the i386_linux directory (i.e. /home/sandboxes/mwhitehe/gbt/devices/receivers/Rcvr_PAR/unit_test/i386-linux). If you invoke the test script or run_rcvr_par_unit_test from a directory that does not contain the Rcvr_PAR.conf file then the tests will fail.

• There is an issue with TowerCommandsTest.cc and CrateCommandsTest.cc. If the getTestPort methods return /dev/null then the tests fail. If the methods return /dev/tty then the tests pass but the terminal output is hosed. Using the reset command returns the terminal to a sane state. This should be fixed.

• Here is my cycle for modifying the test files and then retesting:
  1. cd Rcvr_PARTest, make clobber, make -s
  2. cd ../unit_test, make clobber
  3. cd ../Manager, make -s
  4. cd ../unit_test, make -s
  5. cd i386-linux, rcvr_par_unit_test
     Note: This is probably too complicated. I should review the make files and figure out how to do this more quickly.
