To Do
- rerun bad and typical days without phase calibration on the phasecals (ie, referred only to the primary source)
- inspect the data
- learn something?
- define a cut for spectrum runs.
08jun00: j1743-038 seems anomalous-- the other sources don't show a large offset. 1743 is 95 deg from the moon. However the primary calibrator, 1230+123, is 19 deg from the moon. And we did do a primecal calibration. I reran the calibration and left out pcorr, and the offset looks like a real offset; the residuals look random. J1230+123 is another story: the residuals are highly patterned and the noise level twice theoretical.
31jul00: 12h sources at 45 deg from moon. primary calibrator has large fitted offset too-- huh? Oh, actually we used jupiter as the primary calibrator. It looks to me like there was an attenuator change between jupiter and the data, why this got written out I have no idea!! Ok, it seems that I only see the second atten change in the morning (01aug) in my current run of cbical, and it is correlated with an I/O error--corrupt file 20000801_084409.dat. maybe bogus. When I take out checkAtten, the residuals on the problem child 1549 look fine. (though other sources this day also show crappy offsetts)
29jul00: primary calibrator has large fitted offset-- huh? Used jupiter here too.
12jun00: primary calibrator 37 degrees from the moon. primecal is j1230+123.
20jun00: primecal is j1230+123, it is 131 deg from the moon. residual map for this guy is also highly patterned and noise is twice theoretical. actual noise is 54 mJy RMS; on a 16 Jy source this represents a dynamic range of about 900. Qualitatively the residuals are quite similar to those on 08jun.
