We supported 19 projects in 28 observing sessions, including 2 VLB sessions. The telescope was scheduled for 8.5 hrs of maintenance and 5 hrs of C-band commissioning and baseline tests. Lost time amounted to 6.5 hrs (about 4.1%) of which 5.8 was due to the power failure or by products of the power failure. The major causes of lost time were:
- Power Failure - 4.4 hrs
- Servo problems - 0.8 hrs (2 instances)
- GASP - 0.6 hrs
- Ka Config file - 0.5 hrs
- GFM - 0.1 hrs

Week of Sept 24, Oct 1, and Oct 8: Ka-band/Spectrometer recommissioning. Contingent on Aug 10 decision. One 8 hr sessions per week of A-class weather (nighttime, dynamically scheduled).
- Oct 1 - Oct 13 : Zpec commissioning, A and B weather, dynamically scheduled. Contingent on Aug 10 decision.
- Oct 7 - 15 : CCB/Ka testing, A-class weather (nighttime, dynamically scheduled).
- No later than week of Oct 15 : Install C-band .
- Oct 18 : Decision as to whether to continue using the Ka-band single-pol configuration. Whether to schedule 100 hrs of Zpec observing. Whether to remove Ka and convert back to old configuration. Whether to proceed with Ka/Spec/CCB observing.
- Oct 21-Nov 2 : C-band astronomical commissioning, C-class weather
- Nov 2 : C-Band observing can start
- Nov 2 : Decision on how to proceed with traditional holography. Which receiver will we remove? When will tests start? Do we need to cut a mounting plate?

GBT Telescope Operations -- Bob
- We readied the 20m for receiver installation this week. Otherwise, routine operations and maintenance.
- The K band intermittent stability problem returned. An IF isolator swapped greatly reducing 1.2 Hz modulation
- No significant events to report this week.
- No work was done on the Active Surface this week.
RFI Group Operations -- Carla

The failure of the emergency generator on Saturday led to a more extensive reduction in services than usual. All network contact with the telescope was lost for a while and a trip to the servo room to reboot a switch (along with some M&C computers) was necessary. I also discovered some deficiencies in the cisco 4507's configuration which Gene Runion was able to fix remotely. I was able to start the mergency generator after a while so core switching was maintained (just!) along with email connectivity.
Some equipment did fail as a result of the power outage, the most disruptive being the windows print server. However this was in the process of being replaced anyway and Charlie was able to restore print services by the end of business Monday on new hardware. One gasp node could not be brought back up and a handful of older monitors died.
- Somewhat normal 43m operations, after recovery from the power outage.
- Failed to track on Tuesday due to a failed declination limit switch. There was not true hardware failure except the switch. Glen will discuss with MIT/LL possible work-a-rounds for similar future problems.
- Modified the real-time interface document for MIT/LL requests. Will test again on Monday Nov 5.
- Conversations with MIT/LL suggest that project will continue for a few more years and they are re-working their science case.

- Continuing implementation of scoring modules based on Project Note 5. See class design for more details.
- Science:
- Final version of DSS note 5.2 has been released
- Jim is working on formal response to user's committee and external review committee (along with Karen)
- Dana looked into any needed PST changes for the DSS tests this June and concluded we can use what is available, at least from an astronomers viewpoint

MUSTANG -- Brian
The YGOR manager is receiving and parsing data from the DFB cards, although there are occasional glitches, and they are working on sorting these out. Next priorities are: IRC fixes and operational support for the upcoming run, and getting coadding and new timestamp scheme working.
Array 3 had its first cooldown and it did not go particularly well. The MUX chips were not well attached to the board and were damaged by the cryogenic cycle. We will proceed with array 2 for this season, which was the basis of our sensitivity projections, and move ahead with fixes to array 3.
PTCS program -- John
- Servo
- PLC upgrade work continued with testing this week.

- Held a PTCS servo meeting last Friday.
- Instrumentation
- New accelerometer set might be ready to mount next week
- Pointing
- Received a batch of Matlab scripts and instructions from Kim. Hope to go through them soon.
- Frank's analysis of recent (Oct 7/8) Ka/CCB pointing data on primary calibrators confirms a flat gain curve above 20 deg elevation.
- A subgroup of PTCS is meeting later today to discuss plans for analyzing the recent tracking performance data, and strategies for utilizing the datastream from the quadrant detector
- Holography
- Todd is beginning to examine the old (4.2 Hz) holography data from 2004 to characterize phase stability and tracking performance back then. Preliminary analysis shows rms phase of 1 to 5 deg and rms amplitude of ~0.2 dB during boresight scans, with some oscillations seen.
CICADA program -- John
- Held workshop this week. diagrammed out how the system will work, assigned parts of the system to various groups to work on. Got good advice from Glenn Jones of caltech, and Peter McMahon? of Berkeley. Had a dissapointing experience with attempted video telecon with another Berkeley person. Connections kept dropping out. - Upgraded our development systems to the latest "Green Block" libraries.
- Set up the bee2 to mount its Linux root filesystem from an NFS mount, for speed and flexibility.
- GPU cluster is up and running. Joe installed toolset and configured things so others can use the systems for experiments.
- Working on a system for naming and numbering the hardware Ethernet connections.
- Teleconference established most of the specifications needed for the noise module, LO distribution and downconverter design.
- Completed thermal gap simulations and began mechanical drawings.
- Teleconference to establish scientific talking points for the November workshop.
