The GBT Pulsar Spigot is a power device for wide bandwidth
pulsar observations. The Spigot also generates large volumns
of data that must be quickly tranfered to external disks, and removed
from the computer. This page provides a summary of the currently mounted
disk drives on the Spigot and the names of the current owners of these drives.
Please remove your data as soon as possible!

The Linux operating system requires the person mounting the
external hard drives to have "root" priveledge. Some members of
the NRAO staff have been assigned this priveledge and will
perform the mount/dismount operations for remote observers.
Please contact one of the following for pulsar data mount
requests:

The process of mounting a disk first requires plugging
the disk into the spigot2 computer, located in the GBT
Equipment room, then figuring out the
unix drive name. This is accomplished with the following
steps:
- su
- rescan-scsi-bus.sh
- identify the drives currently attached to computer
- dmesg
- print list of drive names (ie /dev/sdr1)
- mount -t ext3 /dev/sdr2 /mnt/ehd2
- umount /mnt/ehd2
