TELESCOPE OPERATIONS


ACCIDENT RESULTING IN INJURY

If calling 9-911, provide the phone number where you are calling from as their system will see only the NRAO GB front desk number and not your extension.

If Receiving A call Concerning An Accident/Injury

STEP ACTION
1 Note time and determine: 1. Caller's name/phone number or location; 2. What happened, when and where?; 3. Are there any injuries?; 4. Who is/are injured?; 5. Extent of injuries?; 6. Is there a death?
2 All work associated with an accident which resulted in injury or death should be suspended.
3 Determine if scene is secure (i.e. scene is not dangerous to anyone rendering assistance.)
4 Direct/initiate first aid as appropriate.
5 If immediate medical attention is required, dial 9-911, (for the GBT warehouse outside line phone, just dial 911). Provide information as the situation dictates.
6 Notify NRAO Emergency Response Team (ERT) (if High Angle Rescue required). Reference ERT Roster.
7 Monitor situation and transmit additional information to 911 if required.
8 Inform safety officer, Johnny Samples at 2215 or home number.
9 Inform Mike Holstine at 2231 or home number.
10 Inform division heads as required.
11 Coordinate ambulance/ERT actions upon their arrival unless otherwise directed.
12 Update OpsLog of actions.
