TELESCOPE OPERATIONS

CABLING FILE CHANGES

General

This procedure is used for updating the GBT Cabling file. While most of the cable file changes are completed by the electronics division, operations may be responsible for updating them into the system as noted in the steps below.

Info

The steps completed by the engineer during cabling file changes are outlined below and included here for reference purposes only.

The actions required by the duty operator are outlined in the Updating the GBT Cabling File section of this procedure.

Within 30 seconds of loading a new cabling file, those CLEO applications that use it will notice the change and warn the user that they are reconfiguring themselves. Depending on the changes, some applications will re-launch themselves since they cannot fully reconfigure while the application is running. This is normal and to be expected.

Updating the GBT Cabling File

STEP ACTION
1 Launch the Cleo IF Manager application. Select the Load Cabling List option under the File menu (brings up cabling file browser in the home/gbt/etc/config directory). Select and load the new cable file.
NOTE If there are any syntax errors in the new file they will appear either as CLEO pop-up messages and/or messages in the CLEO Message window. If errors occur, inform the engineer so they can fix the file. The operator will then need to reload the cabling file.
2 Launch Cleo LO1 application. Turn the LO1 manager OFF then back ON.
3 Launch the Cleo IF Rack application. Go to the Managers menu and select Reset Parameters.
4 Inform the electronics division engineer that your part is complete. They will verify the cabling file update and advise if problems (if any) are noted.
