TELESCOPE OPERATIONS

Lockout/Tagout for Elevation and Azimuth breakers

General

The Lockout/Tagout is designed to completely disable all Elevation and Azimuth motors. Lockout/Tagout will be used to prevent motion when service is required for repairs.

The breakers for the AZ and EL motors or PDU breakers, are located in the servo room on the antenna. They are located on both sides of the interface cabinet mounted on the wall. Two large grey breakers on the left of the interface cabinet and two large grey breakers on the right of the interface cabinet. They are clearly labled starting from the left as S-03 and S-04. On the right they are labled as S-02 and S-01. In addition there is, S-05 breaker beside the PDU2 cabinet and a 120V breaker in behind the servo computer cabinet or OCU for the single phase 120V for the interface cabinet. With all of these breakers disabled, every AZ and EL drive motor on the antenna will be disabled. This will not effect the subreflector, prime focus or turret.

STEP ACTION
1 Pull the handle down for all four PDU breakers which are S-03, S-04, S-02 and S-01. This will disconnect the power for the PDU's or Power Drive Units.
2 A lock will be placed through each handle for each breaker to prevent the handle from being turned back on. With the locks will be a tag explaining who is working on the drive motors and the reason why.
3 Then pull the switch down for the S-05 breaker that is beside the PDU2 cabinet. This will turn off power to the antenna as well. A lock will then be placed on the switch with a tag explaining who is working on the drive motors and the reason why.
4 Then pull the switch down for the single phase 120V power in behind the servo computer or OCU. This will turn off power to the singal phase power in the interface cabinet. This is a red switch located at the top right corner in behind the servo computer rack OCU. A lock will then be placed on the switch with a tag explaining who is working on the drive motors and the reason why.
