ONLINE SDFITS RECOVERY

General

The following procedures are used to correct problems associated with FITS data and the onlineSdfits process. Contact the callout person for any unusual problems.

Stopping and restarting the onlineSdfits process on datacapture will usually correct most problems. If not, contact an SDD member (Marganian or Garwood).

The onlineSdfits file will not back fill missing data or fill scans that were run while the onlineSdfits program was offline. These scans will have to be filled manually offline.

The observer can use the 'summary' command to check that the latest scan has been read into GBTIDL.

Onlinesdfits Recovery Procedure

STEP	ACTION
1	Tell the user to exit GBTIDL, restart it, then refrain from using the 'online' command until notified.
2	Use TaskMaster to do stop/start of the onlineSdfits process or if necessary, do a systemstop/systemstart on host datacapture.
3	After the process or datacapture is back up, wait about a minute after the current scan ends.
4	Inform the user they may resume using the 'online' command of GBTIDL.
5	If the above steps do not correct the problem, contact Marganian or Garwood.
