Radios are used to monitor and assist operations and maintenance activities at the GBT and around site. Their use is governed by FCC regulations. Please use them appropriately at all times.
Managing GBT Base Radio Communications
STEP ACTION 1 Ensure base set is ON with volume adjusted to a suitable listening level. 2 Monitor GBT and site wide communications traffic. Respond to calls as necessary. 3 Log out any damaged or malfunctioning radios to Chuck Niday for repair. Refer to outage procedures. NOTE The control room base set should be on at all times. The warehouse base set is to be turned off at the end of the day. NOTE Primary channel for all activities is channel 3. Portable Radios

STEP ACTION 1 Offer radios and assign alternate channels if necessary. Provide assistance on use if needed. 2 Log out any damaged or malfunctioning radios to Chuck Niday for repair. Refer to outage procedures. 3 Return serviceable radios to a charging unit for later use.
