To assist the GBT servo engineer in obtaining data on azimuth truck wheel tilting, we may be tasked to periodically slew the telescope for a full 360 degrees run a simple task following procedures are used to complete the wheel tilt measurement when scheduled.
The CLEO "Antenna Control" screen it the primary GUI used for this test. The "Antenna Monitor" screen can be used to monitor position and rates.
Position the Antenna in Azimuth to a location that will afford a full 360 degree rotation.
Open an x-term window and check for samplers already running by typing "pstilts" To start samplers running, type "tilts" and hit "Enter". This will start 2 samplers. Their process numbers will be listed. Make note of them. Leave this window open.
In the Antenna control screen under the "Drives" tab, change the "Wrap" setting from "Auto" (normal setting) to the option that would be opposite from where the antenna is presently located.
This will cause the commanded position to change to the other end of the wrap.
Press "Move To" and confirm the move and the antenna will move to the other end of the wrap at the slew rate. Wait for the antenna to settle.
To complete the measurement move back to the original Azimuth coordinates be repeating steps 3 through 5.
Wait 5 minutes and "kill" the processes started in step 2. Put your cursor in the x-term window where you started the samplers. Type "kill [process number] [process number]" and hit "Enter". These numbers are separated by a space for this command.
Close the x-term window.
