Demo Pointing Run TPTCSPNT_071021

On the day of the Open House, October 21, an all-sky run was done with the Ka-band receiver, using the CCB as the back end, meaning that continuum data were obtained at frequencies 27.75, 31.25, 34.75, and 38.25 GHz.

The scheduling block was : PointingRunV7.sb (in /home/groups/ptcs/obs/turtle/ ) In this run, the azimuth step was set to 79 and the elevation step to 53 so that there would be a big slew every 5 minutes, in order to put on a good show for the visitors.

Scan numbers 1 through 190 were recorded; 38 peak/focus sequences.

Data were processed with "prepoint" in "lpc" mode. Prepoint properly outputs the pointing offsets, but the fitted peaks and errors on all quantities are bogus for CCB data. This is being worked on.

The weather was clear and sunny, with opacities in the range 0.04 to 0.07. The air temperature ranged from 13 to 23C with winds up to 8 m/s.

The rms pointing errors (LPCs) were 7.2" in az and 6.3" in el. (see attached plots) These are somewhat higher than we would ideally like, but are probably reasonable given the windy and sunny conditions.

The Az/El coverage was quite good, although sparse -- see the attached plot.
