1. Direct Observer Support:

• C band interference reported by JM Hollis traced to system problem.
• RFI Surveys performed for Deshpande A. Yogesh M. and Anish R. using GBT Mon. Station in selected bands between 110 MHz and 1450 MHz. survey results here

2. NRQZ (Zone 5) Administration: 1OCT07 - 31DEC07

• ERPd Restriction values amended PW 28MAR08

• Grand Tour:
  • Dobson Cellular
• Evers MOA reports for October, November and December
• Meeting with J. Gonzalez/WVDHHR Trauma

3. WVRAZ:

• Continued monitoring for power line and cable TV RFI.
• Provided input to business office WRT Frontier Communications issue.
• Provided Guest Information brochures and logo CAT5 cables to Rimfire Lodge at Snowshoe.

4. On-Site RFI Mitigation (Zones 1-2):

• Anechoic Chamber testing:
  • Request-to-exit Infrared motion detector (component of Keyless Entry System)
• Created mitigation scheme for keyless entry system in collaboration with the system installer; ordered hardware for same.
• Started work on telephone switch rack RFI mitigation in tour center.

5. RFI Policy, Instrumentation, Reporting Mechanism, etc:

• GBT Monitoring Station
  • Replaced lightning damaged amplifier in channel 3 of GBT monitoring station; added gnded bias T to bleed off static.
• Anechoic Chamber
  • Anritsu Spec An MS2602A was repaired and calibrated.
  • Lab View installation, windows PC and network connection requested at anechoic chamber.
• RFI Data Base Project
  • Articulated project requirements in collaboration with sponsors and end users.
  • Was able to secure 75% of Lihong's time to complete web-based data entry forms in Turbo Gears.
  • Articulated requirements for the GUI, began backtracking to formulate relational table structure of database.
• Archival Monitoring Options beginning to be articulated.
• Location for NSWC tower donation was determined; waiting for footer specifications from NSWC.

• Completed repair of RFI shielding compromised by the installation of the new heating/cooling unit installed at 40' RFI trailer.
• 3 meter resolution topography data issues: Ordered software that may edit WV 3 meter topo data to make it usable across state line.

6. Outreach:

• Assisted WV DHS&ES in identifying source of RFI to their IFLOWS repeater at Snowshoe.
• Assisted Alleghaney County Public School Bus system in trying to identify source of RFI to their radio system on Warm Springs Mountain.
• Participated in a PBS Wired Science segment on the NRQZ.
