1. Direct Observer Support:

• Coordinated with 2 LEO Satellites (and possibly other classified LEOS) as well as various federal agencies and the private sector to protect receipt of VHF signal from JPL/NASA Phoenix Mars lander on May 25th.
• Investigated L-Band RFI report from Jay Lockman.
• Coordinated plans for use of a ground-penetrating radar near the telescope in an archaeological study.
• Coordinated a voluntary shutdown of AEP transmitters for Nissam Kanekar.
• Responded to a report of C-band RFI for Karen O'neil.
• Researched S-Band RFI for Scott Ransom.
• Investigation of 900MHz band interference report turned up a wireless security system at the local bank. Bank will replace system with a wired one.

2. NRQZ (Zone 5) Administration:

Other:

• Investigating wrongly placed 168.675MHz federal transmitter in Bartow, WV, and four federal transmitters on Buck's Elbow Mountain, VA.

3. WVRAZ:

• Continued monitoring for power line and cable TV RFI.
• Legal correspondence initiated for wireless modems issue; made direct editorial contributions.
• Tracked 900 MHz band RFI to a wireless security upgrade at local bank. Working to have system removed.

4. On-Site RFI Mitigation (Zones 1-2):

• Anechoic Chamber testing:
  • Fire-Lite fire alarm and suppression system for GBT tested; mitigation design, procurement, and fabrication begun.
  • ICN-4P32-SC Fluorescent Ballast tested.
  • Power Supply for MUSTANG Project tested.
  • Translator board for KFPA tested.
  • CCD Camera as potential replacement for Josler cameras tested.
  • Smoke Detector for GBT fire Suppression System tested.

• Provided preliminary requirements and advice for RFI mitigation of WVU/UCLA Magnetometer.
• Advised on installation of feed-thrus for TV installation in Tour Center computer room.

5. RFI Policy, Instrumentation, Reporting Mechanism, etc:

• GBT Monitoring Station
  • Installed attenuator in one of the GBTRFIMS lines to investigate overload issue.
• Anechoic Chamber
  • Optained new (old) PC (NUGGET) for chamber use, and installed new version of PrintCapture on it.
• RFI Data Base Project
  • Nothing to report.
• GBT Archival Monitoring
  • Nothing to Report.
• Employee education
  • Provided Human Resources with new employee RFI policy orientation material, and ensured that it was on the checklist of orientation materials.
  • Sent several reminders about policy to staff as necessary.
  • Gave RFI talk to new tour guides.
• Obtained 2 8591A spectrum analyzers from surplus and 1 AB-577 portable antenna mast.
• 8563A spectrum analyzer on loan from Sugar Grove returned as unrepairable per NSWC Dalgren calibration lab.

6. Outreach:

• Provided RFI Chamber testing Training for a Summer Student.
• Provided Anechoic Chamber Tour to Sci. Teacher's Group.
• Gave site tour to Dr Teresa Anderson, Head of Public Understanding of Science and Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, The University of Manchester and Tim O'Brien, and Astronomer from The University of Manchester.
• RFI Conference with Jim Steele, State of WV Homeland Security
• Grand Tours for:
  • NIOC - Bud Berryman and guest
  • Verizon Wireless - Frank Mayer and guests
  • State of WV Homeland Security - Jim Steel and guests.

7. Other:
