Hands-On Projects

• We will only know a couple of weeks before the school whether or not Arecibo will be available. We are on the schedules at Green Bank and Arecibo.

* The GBT will be restricted to AZ=184.5 and at whatever elevation it is left in by the painters. (The painting schedule will determine the elevation for each day. Most days, the telescope will need to be locked in elevation at access (elev = 77.8 deg). At night, the telescope can be moved to a different elevation. However, because we cannot remove the painting buckets each evening, the elevation ranges will probably be limited to +/- 10 deg of access.) Larry will find a declination based on our LST Range that will include a bright galaxy and a pulsar.

  • RFI excision project?
  • We can actually climb the telescope with liquid nitrogen in order to do Hot+Cold loads and get absolute flux measurements.

We need volunteers for running the RFI projects, RichardPrestage? has given us the go-ahead to inform Green Bank staff that they will be required.

We can replicate CChandlers VLA+GBT map of Orion if we can find someone with the necessary expertise, JayLockman? or BillCotton??

Programme

• CHeiles wants to give advanced talk, make this an optional talk on Thursday Larry

• BKerr can give SAS talk in 'Current and ...Arecibo' slot. Ask Richard to cover Arecibo in his talk, if only a slide or two at the end.

• Programme can be put on website now. Larry

Misc

• Acceptance/Rejection letters can be sent out Larry

• Funding, if we've not heard by mid-may ChrisSalter? will contact RichBarvainais?. We'll set funding deadline at 1st of June giving people enough time to buy plane tickets.

• Cafeteria staff may need hand-holding on Vegan issues, will address this in LOC meeting
