1. Introduction

Here we summarize the tasks needed to implement desired new balancing functionality.

• Balancing Descriptions and Scenarios

The following MRs are listing in approximate order of priority.

• Revise spectrometer warning messages : 9C505
• Revise IF Rack messages : 10C505
• get/set/adjust attenuators : 8C505
• Converter Rack Balancing : 4C505
• Balancing in presence of RFI : 11C505
• Turning Cals off/on before balancing. : 12C505

• Balancing criteria

The Balancing API will be augmented to include the capabilities described in the above MRs. In addition, it will implement balancing in all devices that presently are done in the Managers.

It would be nice to attach the latest version of the project charter and link it somewhere on this page. -- AmyShelton

We must not forget to include updating the Balancing API documentation as part of this activity. -- AmyShelton

2. Implementation & Deployment Plan

We believe that the implementation of the new Balancing API and scheme will take 1 FTE-cycle. However, we would like to spread the work over two cycles in order to accomodate work being done on other projects. We propose using C1 and C2 of 2007 for implementation, which will culminate in the release of the new Balancing API and scheme at the end of C2 2007.
