Comments on Device Diagnostics Output

Please log your comments here on the device diagnostics information. How can this become a more useful utility for software troubleshooting?

• In root cause analysis, the lines that say "device X is reporting a message" don't seem to be very useful.
  • 22 Jun 2005 - removed these lines from application output (PrintStandardAlert.py).

• On 7/1/05, Karen had a problem where the DCR was dead. So the first thing I did was to look at the device diagnostics, and sure enough, it reports that the DCR is not communicating and there are no upstream problems. But, how do we fix a device that's not communicating? Is there a standard solution? We should link information about how to approach some of these problems right onto the page. It's getting me so far, but should go a speck further...

• Should also link information about where the machines are located, what managers are on what machines, etc to the diagnostics pages (I can do this if I get the chance - nmr)
