0. PO Requests Related to gbtstatus

1. Melinda's wish list

1. Allow the user to specify any valid M&C parameter or sampler in their .sparrow conf file
2. Put a data valid flag in both the database and on the screen for situations where the daemon is not receiving data from the M&C interface
3. Receive fault indications other a generic "SOAPFAULT" for invalid device and parameter names. (requires changes to Grail and gbtstatus)
4. Clean up the database

2. Requests

Some requests from Frank (revised Jan 21, 2005)

• The units should be indicated for major and minor coordinates (degrees or hours).
• The "polarity" label should be "Polarization mode" or "Pol mode"
• If the scan coordinator status is "Warning", "Error", or "Fatal", the device that is reporting that status should be listed. If more than one device is giving such a status just indicate "multiple device warning".
• For VLBI, we need weather data:
  • ambient temperature
  • dew point
  • pressure
  • current wind speed and direction
  • wind gust (i.e. the maximum wind speed over the last 15 minutes)
  • GlenLangston: Frank's VLBI requests cover what I'd like added to the status database, although, I'd prefer a shorter time constant for the peak wind gusts. More like peak speed in the last minute would be prefered.
• There should be options for displaying the temperature in F; the wind speed in MPH.
• also for VLBI, we need the time difference GPS-VLBA and round trip phase from the "site time" manager.
• For pulsar observers, we need the time difference "Site1Hz to GPS".
• The "FocusOffset(XYZ)" and "FocusOffset(XYT-T)" do not need to be in the default display.

• For each back end IF channel, give the sky frequency of the lower and upper edges of the band. LO1 and LO2 frequencies should be available, but not in the default display.

• The source name should be more prominently displayed -- perhaps put it on the left side.
• The label "Center Frequency" should be changed to "IF1 Freq" and (hmmm..then eliminated from the display) per FG obs report on 8/15/2006

Some requests from Karen

Enhancements:

1. It doesn't pick up the new source name until it starts a scan on that source. It seems like it ought to know the source name at the point that it begins to slew to that source. (The CLEO windows also don't change source name until the scan starts) [March 11, 2005] . MelindaMello THe source name is retrieved from the fits file and is not available before the scan starts.
2. We should switch the order of things in the default configuration file, so that the Section that starts with "Scan" is above the section with "Az commanded" [March 11, 2005]
3. the "FocusOffSet" listings should be removed from the default configuration file [March 11, 2005]
4. The "Time To Set" should have "(hh:mm)" after it, to show the time is in hours and minutes. [March 11, 2005]
5. It would be good to include the "Integration Time" in the default listing. [March 11, 2005]
6. Polarity should be just "Linear" instead of "polLinear" [March 11, 2005]

Bugs:

1. The frequency calculation for the Ka-band receiver is wrong, and needs to use a different formula for its calculation. Info on this is available at http://wiki.gb.nrao.edu/bin/view/Projects/KaLoIf [April 12, 2005]

Some requests that came to Melinda via emails

Enhancements:

1. Change the "Major Epoch" and "Minor Epoch" labels -- these are pretty much meaningless. call them : "H Coordinate" and "V Coordinate" (FG but rejected by Karen until we hear from more observers). Verdict??

Bugs

1. Source velocity wrong (KO 2/3/05). I think this was fixed.
